Join Whiffletree staff for hands-on workshops:
Grafting:
Saturday April 4th: 9:30 am - 12 pm
Grafting enables gardeners to grow their own fruit trees, convert an existing tree to a different variety or even grow multiple varieties on the same tree.
Registration Fee: $175 CDN (plus tax) includes all supplies, tools, and refreshments. Enrolment is limited to 20 seats per workshop so register now to reserve your spot!
What you will learn:
- Overview of rootstocks and grafting
- Hands-on teaching of grafting techniques including cleft grafting, budgrafting, and bark grafting to existing trees
What you will go home with:
- 5 completed grafted rootstocks
- Grafting knife
Pruning:
Saturday April 4th: 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm
The first part of the pruning workshop will be led by Matt Soltys, operator of The Urban Orchardist, a local consulting, pruning and design business and nursery. The workshop will cover pruning techniques and strategies, how pruning affects tree health and productivity, ideal branch structure, and more.
The second part of the workshop will be led by Whiffletree's Fred Lichty. Learn how to prune, train and maintain your grapes for quality fruit production and visual appeal in your space.
Registration fee: $140 CND (plus tax). Enrolment is limited to 20 seats.
You can select any grafting or pruning workshop on it's own, or participate in both workshops on the same day.
