New foliage has a purple tinge, changing to an attractive bronze-green and finally to yellow in the fall. Purple Robe has a long blooming period with pendulous wisteria-like clusters of fragrant violet-purple blossoms. A tough fast growing tree with a compact, rounded form, it can reach 15m (50') in height.

I planted this tree last year. The purple flowers are absolutely beautiful and the tree grew so many branches that I had to stake it to keep it straight, while the roots established themselves. I'll definitely be buying another.

The leaves and flowers came out and are beautiful. The structure of the plant is a bit odd. It seems like a side shoot and the main stem has been cut. The tree is curved in shape. I was hoping a better shaped tree would.
