Any occasion is special when this tasteful rose is blooming. Although most everyone agrees that Special Occasion personifies grace and harmony in form, scent, and hue, defining the colour presents a challenge. It has been variously described as 'coppery-apricot' or 'vivid salmon with a trace of pink'. In truth, neither copper nor salmon sounds very classy, while apricot, at best, is rather vague. So, we defer to the well-known phrase - 'a picture is worth a thousand words', as well as the fact that this rose won a Gold Medal at the International Rose Trials at Genoa. The appealing fragrance is another reason for Special Occasion's sizable fan club, and in this regard 'salmon' and 'scent' do not belong in the same sentence.

What is Orchard Grade?

An 'orchard grade' is a tree that may be somewhat shorter, slightly crooked, or a bit scratched, or for some other reason is not a perfect front lawn specimen. These trees will work just as well in an orchard as a first or number one would, since they still produce the very same fruit.
