Few fruit names impact accurate information as efficiently as 'Early Blush'. First, it is early ripening (the best early apricot available, in fact), and second, the attractive orange-red blush gives it excellent colour. Fruit size is medium to large with high-quality freestone flesh. Exceptional flavour and texture which we found rather reminiscent of a firm, sweet peach. Vigorous, moderately spreading tree is productive and disease resistant. This Rutgers University selection has Goldcot and Morden 604 back in its pedigree which certainly doesn't hurt winter hardiness either.
NEEDS A POLLENIZER | ZONE 5 | HARVEST: EARLY JULY
One of the key factors that determines cold-hardiness for tender fruit trees such as apricots and peaches is how well they harden off in the fall. Any activity that stimulates growth should be avoided after August 1. This includes fertilizing, overly frequent watering and pruning.
