Strawberry : CHARLOTTE bare root plant

This hardy, everbearing French variety has firm, blood red, heart-shaped berries with good shelf life. For the most part the exquisite, candy sweet flavour and delightful fragrance can be attributed to it's Mara des Bois parentage, but Charlotte boasts larger berry size and higher yields. The vigorous plants need very little fertilization and are resistant to spider mites and powdery mildew.

    I am never disappointed with not only the quality of the plants that I order but also the care in packaging when shipped. The real danger is to remind myself that I do not live on a farm with acres, only a decent size lot. I did go overboard as usual.

    Less survival rate than Charlotte. Planted evening package arrived. But 3 remaining plants quite big now and look really healthy.

    It is now end of August and I have to say, Charlotte is a big disappointment at this point. The 24 plants have grown very little and produce VERY few berries. I'm comparing with Albion everbearing that from the same bare root plants, has grown MUCH larger and produces a LOT of berries for me.
    It's unfortunate because I most certainly DO like the sweeter taste.
