For its 150th anniversary the City of New Westminster in BC commissioned Brad Jalbert to create a new rose in honour of the occasion. Royal City is the result and the rest of us are the beneficiaries. The classic elegance comes in shades of salmon-orange to apricot with a peachy-pink inner glow. Blooms are borne singly or in small clusters with long stems for easy cutting. Excellent vigour and disease resistance in a dense, compact format. Royal City really comes into its own in areas with cooler summers.
For thousands of years roses have held a special attraction for mankind. Regarded as the ultimate icon of love, grace, beauty, and elegance, they continue to be the subject of art and poetry throughout the world. Here at Whiffletree we eventually succumbed to the temptation to lengthen our rose lineup. Now that we’ve fully fallen under the spell of this beguiling flower, you can expect this section to expand. In keeping with the rest of our catalogue, we intend to retain a strong emphasis on natural disease resistance.

Gorgeous as usual. Roses are so fascinating, especially the hybrids, with their changing colors from bud to full bloom to fading. Just so fascinating. I rose-gaze for hours. It so magical. Purchased this year and blooming abundantly, in clusters. Aptly described by the seller.

I also wanted to mention here that I purchased the Shrub Rose : SONNENWELT last year and the blooms on it are just gorgeous, Big clusters with nuanced colors from bud to full bloom to fading. Just stunning. It's not available on the website which is why I am leaving a very positive review here.
