(Pinus cembra sibirica)
The Siberian stone pine is a subspecies of the Swiss stone pine and obviously is very similar. As could be expected, the Siberian version comes with extreme cold hardiness. Cones are practically identical to the Swiss, with thin shells on the pine nuts for easy processing. The young blue-green needles are supposedly edible and vitamin-rich. I suspect a pine needle diet would also be very effective for weight loss! Siberian stone pines make attractive landscaping specimens, eventually reaching 18m (60') or more in height, but they are notoriously slow growing when young.
