A hardy Damson' best describes this dark purple, prune type plum which A.T. Moore discovered as a chance seedling in northern Maine, back in 1881. How, when, or why its name became 'Mooers' will likely remain one of life's deep mysteries. It is known, however, to be a very productive, compact tree that is extremely resistant to black knot.
