This English classic is a cross of 'Baldwin' and 'Brodtorp'. Large, firm, juicy, jet-black berries are known for their distinctive musky flavour and higher sugar content. Many black currant enthusiasts consider Blackdown one of the best for fresh eating. The bush is fairly large, spreading, and very resistant to both white pine blister rust and mildew.
